Crank is an old robot and Al, his replacement, is taking him to be collected by the Tin Man so he can be taken to the great recycling plant. Al tells Crank that the recycling plant is a wonderful place where..."tired old robots go in and bright new robots come out." But Crank doesn't believe that's what happens at the recycling plant... he's heard of a place called Robotika where old robots can be free to live there lives in peace.
